Math & Reading — Pre-K through 8th grade

Here's What the Teaching Looks Like

Every concept is taught with clear visual explanations built for the way children actually learn. These are the same teaching components your child sees during every lesson.

How it works

Measure. Adapt. Track.

Step 01

Measure

A 5-minute assessment finds each child’s actual skill level. Not grade level — real understanding.

Step 02

Teach & Adapt

Daily sessions teach concepts with guided examples, then adapt difficulty in real time. Children advance when ready, not by age.

Step 03

Track

Mastery is verified through spaced repetition, not one right answer. Skills are revisited over days and weeks to confirm lasting understanding.

Multiple children, one system

Three kids. Three levels. One dashboard.

5th grade skills

Each child gets their own placement, progression, and weekly reports. One dashboard shows you where every child stands.

Grade level is not skill level.

Lumastery advances children by demonstrated mastery, not by age. Your seven-year-old working above grade moves forward. Your ten-year-old with gaps in multiplication gets them filled. Every child moves at exactly the right pace.

Weekly clarity reports

Every Week, You Get Clarity

10 minutes of adaptive practice

Each session teaches a concept, walks through guided examples, then gives practice at exactly the right difficulty. Younger children get larger visuals and tap-to-answer exercises.

Overall

Emma had a strong week. She finished all 5 sessions and showed steady improvement in subtraction. Her accuracy on timed addition jumped from 74% to 91%. She's ready for two-digit subtraction with regrouping next week.

Try This at Home

Coin Counting Jar

Grab a handful of coins and have Emma sort and count the total. Start with just pennies and nickels, then add dimes.

Kitchen Subtraction

Put 10 crackers on a plate. Eat some, then figure out how many are left. Write the equation together.

Clock Scavenger Hunt

Pick three times during the day (snack, lunch, bedtime) and have Emma read the clock and write the time.

Questions & answers

Lumastery covers math and reading from Pre-K (ages 3-4) through 8th grade. Even your youngest can start with counting, letters, and patterns at their level. The system places each child by demonstrated skill level, not by age or grade. A younger child working above their grade moves forward. An older child with gaps gets the support they need. Every child starts where they actually are.

About 10 minutes per subject. Younger children (Pre-K and Kindergarten) get fewer questions with larger visual prompts and simple tap-to-answer exercises. The goal is daily consistency, not long sessions. Hand them the device, and they can practice on their own while you work with another child.

Each child takes their own placement assessment and follows their own adaptive path in both math and reading. Your kindergartner works on counting and letter sounds while your fifth grader works on fractions and reading comprehension. From one dashboard you can see where each child stands academically: what skills they have mastered, where they need extra support, and what is coming next. No switching between apps or tracking spreadsheets.

For math, Lumastery is the complete curriculum. It teaches concepts, walks your child through guided examples, gives adaptive practice, and advances them through a complete Pre-K through 8th grade skill graph. You do not need a separate math textbook or lesson plan. For reading, Lumastery provides adaptive assessment and practice covering phonics, vocabulary, comprehension, and literary analysis from Pre-K through 8th grade. It works as a supplement to your chosen reading materials, measuring skill levels and targeting gaps.

Learn alongside your child. Lumastery teaches the concepts, gives guided practice, and tracks mastery, but your encouragement and guidance, especially for younger learners, makes all the difference. The weekly report tells you exactly where each child stands in both math and reading, what they have mastered, and where they might need extra support. You stay informed without needing to plan or deliver lessons yourself.

The system uses spaced repetition, the same evidence-based technique behind the most effective learning tools in the world, to make sure skills stick long after they are first learned. Each child progresses through a prerequisite skill graph: they must demonstrate mastery of foundational concepts before advancing. When they struggle, the system lowers difficulty after just a few attempts to prevent frustration. When they show consistent accuracy across multiple sessions, they move forward. The result is a path that adapts to what your child actually knows, not what their age suggests they should know.

Every week you receive a personalized report for each child covering skills practiced, skills mastered, strength and weakness patterns, accuracy trends, what the system is adjusting next, and suggested home activities. You open the report and you know exactly where your child stands. No interpretation required.
